律景の家


心を整える場所を求めて

本住宅の計画地は、東京郊外の田園と森を望む緑豊かな場所にある。多忙な日々を送る建主が新居に何より求めたのは、日常の喧騒から離れ、心身を静かに整えられる住環境であった。
その建主が「最も自分らしく、心から安らげる住まい」として選び取ったのは、この土地にありがちな田舎暮らしを想起させる住宅ではなく、その対極にあるようなRC造のモダンな邸宅である。仕事を通して全国を巡り、都市的な感性と確かな審美眼を培ってきた人物だからこそ、その選択はごく自然な帰結でもあった。


垂直方向の広がりが生む空間の抑揚

内部空間の核となるのが、半階ずつレベルをずらしたスキップフロアである。本住宅は、1階の玄関・水まわり、半地下のシアタールーム、1.5階の吹抜けダイニングキッチン、そして2階のリビングへと、多層的に空間が連なる。
この高低差を巧みに利用することで、平面的な移動では得られない、立体的で奥行きのある空間体験を生み出した。階段を上るたびに視線の抜けや空間の重心が移ろい、景色は刻々と表情を変える。さらに、それぞれの空間で天井高に緩急を与えることで、適度な緊張感と安らぎが交互に現れ、日々の移動そのものが豊かな体験へと昇華されている。


開閉のコントラストが育む内と外の関係

設計でもう一つ徹底したのが、「開く」と「閉じる」の明快な対比である。
西側隣家や北側道路に対してはソリッドな壁面によって視線を遮り、プライバシーを確保する。一方、田園と森が広がる東・南側には大きく開き、豊かな眺望を住まいへと取り込んだ。
開口部と連動して設けた多彩なテラスは、四季折々の自然を身近に感じる居場所となるだけでなく、内外を緩やかにつなぎ、暮らしに奥行きをもたらしている。


五感を満たす、リトリートのための居場所

建主の強い要望を受け、住まいの中には性格の異なるくつろぎの場を点在させた。
半地下には、ほどよい包まれ感の中で映像の世界へ没入できるシアタールームを設けた。2階のリビングでは、窓いっぱいに広がる緑を眺めながら、ゆったりと音楽を楽しめる。
主寝室には、ベッド・ソファ・デスクを一体化したオリジナル家具を造作し、静かな時間を過ごせる場とした。
さらに2階の浴室は、最も心身を解き放てる場所となるよう、1/1の木製モックアップを制作し、細部まで繰り返し検証を重ねた。寝湯ができる浴槽やテラスへ直接つながる開口などを備え、究極のくつろぎを目指した空間となっている。


質感と色彩を抑えることで生まれる洗練

こうした上質な時間を支えるのは、厳選した素材による静かな表現である。
コンクリートルーバーが軽快なリズムと陰影を生み出す外観は、美しく配された植栽とも調和し、周囲の穏やかな風景へ自然に溶け込んでいる。
室内もまた、素材・色彩ともに極力抑制した構成とした。左官仕上げの壁、タイル床など、それぞれの素材が静かに呼応し合い、都市のラグジュアリーホテルを思わせる、落ち着きある空間をつくり出している。


上質なくつろぎを支える構造と温熱環境

RC造（一部鉄骨造）という建主の選択には、災害時には家族はもちろん、地域の人々をも守ることのできるシェルターのような住まいにしたいという想いが込められている。
その躯体の外側を断熱
材で包み、左官仕上げを施す外断熱工法を採用することで、高い断熱性能を確保した。開口部には木製サッシとトリプルガラスを採用し、コンクリートの蓄熱性と相性の良い冷暖房パネルヒーターを組み合わせることで、一年を通して安定した温熱環境を実現している。
目には見えない性能への徹底したこだわりもまた、この住まいの上質なくつろぎを支える重要な要素である。


景色に律動を与え、心を整える住まい

コンクリートルーバーによりのどかな自然とあふれる光を巧みに取り込みながら、半階ずつ連なる空間が心地よいリズムを奏でる「律景の家」。
光と影、開放と包まれ感、緊張と安らぎ、相反する要素を丁寧に重ね合わせることで、建主が求めた「心を整えるための究極の住まい」を、この地に静かに結実させた。






RITSUKEI HOUSE


A Home Designed to Restore the Mind

Set within a lush landscape overlooking open fields and woodland, this residence was conceived as a retreat from the demands of everyday life. More than anything else, the client sought a home where both body and mind could quietly recover from the pace of a busy daily routine.
Rather than embracing the rustic character often associated with rural living, the client chose what might be considered its opposite—a contemporary residence of reinforced concrete. Having traveled extensively throughout Japan and cultivated both an urban sensibility and a refined aesthetic through work, this decision was a natural reflection of the client's values.


Spatial Rhythm Through Vertical Layers

The defining feature of the interior is a split-level composition in which each floor is shifted by half a level. The sequence begins with the entrance and service spaces on the ground floor, continues down to a semi-basement theater room, rises to a double-height dining kitchen on the intermediate level, and culminates in the living room on the second floor.
These subtle changes in level create a rich three-dimensional spatial experience that cannot be achieved through a conventional horizontal plan. As one moves through the house, perspectives continuously shift, the visual center of gravity changes, and the surrounding landscape reveals itself from ever-changing viewpoints.
Ceiling heights are also carefully varied from one space to another. Moments of compression alternate with moments of release, creating a gentle rhythm that transforms everyday movement into an architectural experience.


Connecting Interior and Landscape Through Contrast

Another fundamental design principle is the deliberate contrast between openness and enclosure.
Toward the neighboring house to the west and the road to the north, solid walls provide privacy and a sense of security. In contrast, the house opens generously toward the east and south, where expansive views of fields and forest become an integral part of daily life.
A series of terraces extends naturally from these openings, offering places to experience the changing seasons while gently dissolving the boundary between architecture and landscape.


Places of Retreat for the Five Senses

Responding to the client's wish for multiple ways to relax, the house offers a collection of spaces, each with its own atmosphere.
The semi-basement contains a theater room whose intimate enclosure allows complete immersion in film. Upstairs, the living room opens toward the surrounding greenery, creating a calm setting for listening to music while enjoying the changing scenery.
The primary bedroom features custom-designed furniture integrating a bed, sofa, and desk into a single composition, creating a quiet and contemplative place for daily life.
Particular attention was given to the bathroom on the second floor. A full-scale wooden mock-up was built and repeatedly refined to perfect every detail. A reclining bathtub and direct access to an outdoor terrace transform the space into a private sanctuary dedicated to complete relaxation.


Refinement Through Restrained Materials and Color

The tranquil atmosphere of the house is supported by a carefully curated palette of materials.
Concrete louvers define the exterior with a light rhythm of shadow and depth while harmonizing with the surrounding planting, allowing the building to settle naturally into its peaceful landscape.
Inside, both materiality and color are intentionally restrained. Plastered walls, tiled floors, and carefully crafted finishes quietly complement one another, creating an understated elegance reminiscent of a refined urban hotel.


Structure and Thermal Performance Supporting Lasting Comfort

The client's decision to build in reinforced concrete, combined with a partial steel structure, was deeply influenced by the experience of the Great East Japan Earthquake. The intention was to create a home that could serve not only as a safe refuge for the family but also as a shelter for members of the surrounding community in times of disaster.
The concrete structure is wrapped externally with continuous insulation and finished with a plaster exterior, forming a highly efficient external insulation system. Timber windows fitted with triple glazing further enhance thermal performance, while radiant heating and cooling panels, ideally suited to the thermal mass of concrete, maintain a stable and comfortable indoor environment throughout the year.
This commitment to invisible performance is as essential to the house as its visible architecture, quietly supporting the quality of everyday life.

Framed by concrete louvers that filter abundant daylight and embrace the surrounding landscape, Ritsukei House unfolds through a sequence of half-level spaces that establish a gentle architectural rhythm.
By carefully balancing opposing qualities—light and shadow, openness and intimacy, tension and tranquility—the project quietly fulfills the client's aspiration for the ultimate home: a place where the mind can be restored in harmony with its surroundings.
